Life and Times of the Shepherds of the Fifth Continent

(Archbishop) Makarios Griniezakis

This anniversary publication, brought together on the occasion of the centenary since the establishment of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, is dedicated with the deepest respect and boundless gratitude to my blessed predecessors: Christophoros Knitis (1924-1928), the “forbearing and forgiving one”, Timotheos Evangelinidis (1931-1947), “the one bringing balance and unity”, Theophylactos Papathanasopoulos (1947-1958), the “meek and serene one”, Ezekiel Tsoukalas (1959-1968 and 1969-1974), the “reformer and visionary” and, Stylianos Harkianakis (1975-2019), the “dynamic and groundbreaking one”, who in the face of difficulties and adversities whilst passing through the furnace of trials, each managed to pass on the administrative and spiritual structure of our Church stronger than what they themselves had received it.

May their memory be eternal
